Videography besties!!!! You have one day left!!! There is so much to say. HTFW Mastermind was not just a year worth of knowledge but also friendships and a community of people that we look forward to connecting with.
A lot of the people within our group have become dear friends. We have assisted for some of them, they have assisted for us and when the tough stuff came up they were on our team as a sounding board.
This is the most extroverted introverted job that you will ever have and the once a week meetings give you something that is outside of yourself and your editing sanctuary to look forward to. There is nothing like being overly creative with 150 + people to then go back to your home to edit the hours away. Mastermind helped to take out the lonely and left us feeling like we could keep going and learning through one of our busiest seasons that we had ever had. It was and will remain one of the most magical education experiences that we could have had!
Now, while the classes were great and we learned some things it was the retreat that really brought it home. Like having a once a week digital pen pal that you become great friends with over an entier year and then all of the sudden you get to meet these people in real life.
If you are on the fence just do your best parkour that you can muster and get your ass over that fence! Your future self will thank you 100 times over!

We love a good “Friends” reference! Especially

We love a good “Friends” reference! Especially if it’s in a vow.

Fun fact about Maddy: we were in the Bahamas a few years ago filming @mlpimienta & @akpimienta and after boating and seeing Pig Island, we made our way back to our room where we turned on the TV and “Friends” was playing, so we starting packing up our suitcases because we were leaving the next day.

As we were packing, I (Felicia) start talking about how it’s been such an incredible week and how sad I was to leave, and I was waiting hear a response from Maddy, because let’s face it, she’s the chatter out of the two of us. But I’m still hearing crickets from the other side of the room.

Then I finally look over because I think there’s something wrong, because like I said, if Maddy ever gets the opportunity to make conversation she’s the first one to speak.

I look over at her, she’s stopped packing, and is completely chilling out staring at the tv, clearly into this friends episode. So I just keep packing and I wait for the commercial break.

Commercial Break- I basically start up conversation again and this time Maddy joins.

Just as soon as the commercial break is up, I think we are still having a conversation and then…you guessed it….crickets.

We basically learned that night, that if the show Friends was on tv, Maddy’s eyes and ears are glued, and I should forfeit all conversation😂😂😂

I think it was the one where Ross makes Fajitas. Which is the best one in my opinion, so no hard feelings!

So here it is! The worst thing that you can bring

So here it is! The worst thing that you can bring to a wedding day……
A BAD ATTITUDE!

We said what we said! Bringing a bad vibe into a wedding is going to get you nowhere fast! Clients thrive on words of encouragement, words of affirmation and you being the guiding light. As photographers and videographers they are looking to us for what to do next. Let your energy be calm in the storm rather than something more to rock the boat.

Complaining and adding to the hot mess express won’t get us anywhere fast! There are ways to help however:

✨Always have an extra snack! There are so many times we have given the bride and groom our granola bar or meat stick because people don’t like photos when they are hungry!

✨Hydration station! We are crazy about water. Most people know this and our couples are no different. We will give them an extra bottle when the temps are rising because hydration is key!

✨Always look after the grandparents and the kiddos. Whenever possible take these photos first so they are free to leave and if need be have one of the groomsmen go grab a chair from the ceremony so they have a place to sit.

✨Move quickly whenever you can to get from one thing to the next and smile more than you think you should. People will pick up on your energy first. Might as well make it super positive.

Get your mind right before you walk on property my friends! Felicia and I ALWAYS get a coffee and have lunch together before a wedding. This gets us on the same page. We listen to music before we get out and hype each other up! It is just like running a marathon and we need a little encouragement before making our way to the venue as well.

If you are new around here, let us tell you a little bit about how we approach a wedding day.

Most of our couples end up having us film their wedding for our style of filming and editing, Super 8 film, but most importantly because we really sit down to get to know them as people.

In every collection we offer, there’s always a “story session” included,which is basically the equivalent of an engagement session.

This is built into everything that we do because our films are so uniquely pieced together and different from each other.

🤨WHY?

We have these story sessions so that:

🪩 we ultimately get to hang out with you, get a feel for who you are as individuals, as well as a couple.

🪩we ask questions about the wedding from one location to the next, to get updated on any important events, so we can game plan how we want to film said events/ surprises.

🪩we hang out as friends that “happen to have cameras” on them.

🪩we want it to feel like a date/hangout session doing your favorite things. Whether that’s hiking, surfing, drinking wine, or strolling through the harbor at sunset. So that the footage has meaning to your relationship.

🪩we use this time to teach you how we work, what to expect from us so that the day of the wedding so that it goes smoother and faster. This will give you more time to spend with your friends and family.

Bonus- we get to use the footage in the final film to tell your story EVEN BETTER.
