Making a unique wedding video
November 25, 2020

Super 8 film rollA long time ago, we both decided that we weren’t going to be held back by one format over another. We love the realness that we can get from our digital cameras, sure, but who doesn’t.  There is a richness that comes from additional footage on different mediums.  Roll call for making a unique wedding video, please; Super 8? Check! Dad cam? Check! Cell phone footage? Check! And yes, we are totally into that. Old VHS tapes? Check!

All right! Let us break this down for you.  During any given wedding day, we are stacked with cameras! Stacked!  Felicia is carrying a Sony for all the digital moments, and there is almost always a Super 8 within reach.  Most moments are captured perfectly in digital, but then there are those other moments where a heavy dose of nostalgia by capturing them on Super 8.  Imagine being transported to the ’70s.  When you watch it on its own, outside of an edit, you able to absorb the moments, the people, and the feelings.  When we pick up that camera, we take a second and plan out what and where the shot is.  It has taught us to be more present and in every moment with you.

On to the ever-elusive dad cam! You heard me right, my friends. The dad cam was Felicia’s father’s camcorder when she was younger. It is so fun to add that little bit of extra and unexpected when possible.  This bad boy is so easy to use that we will hand it off to bridal party members or family to see what they can capture.  When it all comes to people letting go, we are good at making that happen, but you know who is even better? Your friends! This cam is so easy to use that they really can’t mess it up and if we get some useable stuff by the end of the night we will add it to the final film.  If not you will have an uncut movie with your friends doing who knows what! Either way, we see this as a win-win!

On to the cell phone! I know, I know,  Much like the dad cam people are much more unabashedly themselves when a cell phone comes out than when a professional camera comes out.  These moments can be from friends on the dance floor at your wedding or better yet how about all the little moments of your relationship? So much has led up to you both getting married, and while your wedding day is a massive piece of the puzzle, so are the other moments that brought us here.  Did you take a video on a trip together? Your proposal? Random moments on a Tuesday? Game night?  Now imagine that you say something about your proposal in your vows! Bam! Insert tearjerker moment here! Or how about when your dad is giving a toast about the first time you rode your bike and how you weren’t going to give up. Bam! Old VHS coming in for the win.

We believe that there is no cookie-cutter way to tell a story. We take an approach to tell your story a bit differently, and while we can travel day by day with you, you can help us add depth to your wedding video with additional footage. Be it VHS, dad cam, or cell phone. Because when you think about it, the best camera you have is the one on you! And if there’s a format we haven’t mentioned such as mini Dv’s, Hi-8 tapes, etc. Just let us know and we will find a way to digitize them so we can use them in your film! And don’t forget about audio bits. Does your significant other sing in the shower? Maybe you just so happen to capture it in a voice recording. Send it on over. Even a voicemail from when you started dating. We want it!

Seriously, anything you have to show off any parts of your relationship is like GOLD to us. It’s a way for us to really get to the heart of your story because making a unique wedding video doesn’t just start on the wedding day, it starts at the beginning.

xoxo…
